The Albemarle Area Methodist Coalition, made of congregations from the Edenton & Elizabeth City Districts of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church and the Beacon District of The United Methodist Church, held a joint Ash Wednesday service. The gathering marked the beginning of the Lenten season, a time of reflection, repentance, and spiritual renewal.
Leadership from the Albemarle Area Methodist Coalition and Bishop Connie Shelton of the NC Conference of The United Methodist Church offered messages of grace, unity, and spiritual preparation for the season. Through prayer, scripture readings, hymns, and a message of hope, attendees were invited to prepare their hearts for the journey toward Easter. This annual service reaffirms the coalition’s dedication to faith and community, encouraging all to seek deeper spiritual growth during this holy season.
