The good people of Fair Haven UMC found themselves with a home in need of a purpose. Through prayer and discernment, our congregation asked ourselves what was most needed now. How could we be good stewards and serve God by serving others? The answer was clergy care, rest, renewal, and respite. From that, the Fair Haven Respite House (FHRH) was born.
As we began to consider all we could offer, the dream began to expand. We envisioned not only clergy but others in our conference who would be renewed in this beautiful home by the ocean. When we stand on the deck looking at our lovely church and the ocean we can see clergy, small groups, and meetings, as well as hurting families in our new gift to the NCCUMC. Visitors will be met with the sound of the waves and a home that offers all you need. The FHRH is a three-bedroom with a small office (or prayer room) with a fully equipped kitchen, bed linen and bath sets, handicapped accessibility, WiFi provided, and smart TVs. Bedding available for 6.
With an easy walk to the beach and on the grounds of Fair Haven UMC, you’ll have all you need to renew your spirit. Donations are accepted and appreciated to help cover costs. All clergy and those serving in ministry throughout the conference need only to call for availability; the only charge for clergy will be a nominal cleaning fee. Some longer stays for church members will be considered with a Clergy referral and will come with a minimum nightly rate. Group meetings are welcomed and will also come with a minimum nightly rate.
We are blessed to offer this gift to the NCUMC and welcome all who are weary!
