Celebrating 8 Years of Relationships
These 8 years have gone BY so fast. Linda and I began a journey of ministry with you in July of 2013 saying BYE to a new church plant of 13 years to begin this new life of regional ministry. BY the time we had only begun, we discovered we had come home to a deeply devoted people who were making a difference for Jesus Christ BY sharing their faith in the Northeastern corner of North Carolina.
Yesterday and Saturday we were greeted in a Drive BY at First Washington, Edenton, Ahoskie and Kitty Hawk. Linda and I were so loved BY you with your greetings, gifts and prayers. It absolutely warmed our hearts and brought many tears as we said good BYE. We have truly been blessed and will never forget the generous ways you shared your lives and ministry with us. We will miss the beauty of the area and the genuine heart of faith we have found in you. We are already planning a “beach room” for our new parsonage so that we can go in to remember the goodness and blessings we have received from our time in the Beacon District.
The Bishop has appointed me to be the Senior Pastor of Salem UMC located in Eastover outside of Fayetteville. The church places me back close to family. It also places me back in the heart of my call to ministry which is the local church. Salem is a large church with a day care, preschool, afterschool, youth group and is in a rural area. The Gateway District is the area where I began in ministry so it is nice to be going home.
Keep us in prayer as we will you. Always remember to keep the main thing the main thing.
Winning them to Jesus,
Gil
