We have some great opportunities for you to take on leadership roles within the conference. There are currently EIGHT vacant positions that our district needs to fill (described below). Anyone interested must be a confirmed member of a United Methodist Church in the North Carolina Conference and be entering the 10th, 11th or 12th grade this fall. As we were only able to fill a few of these positions at ACS, we thought we would try to fill the remainder at our District Worship Day on August 5. If you need more info please email Josh Horne, at email@example.com. If you plan to be considered you may want to prepare a few words ahead of time to inform your peers as to why you would make a good fit for the desired role. Each position requires at least one PRIMARY and one ALTERNATE in case the primary representative cannot attend the meeting. (The Resolutions Committee requires 2 primaries and 2 alternates. )
The Conference Council on Youth Ministry (CCYM) ALTERNATE: Meets twice a year, September and January, at the Methodist Building in Raleigh to evaluate, recommend, and give leadership to programs for Conference Youth Ministry and to approve recommendations of the Youth Service Fund Task Force.
The Youth Service Fund (YSF) Task Force: PRIMARY and ALTERNATE: Plans how to raise funds for YSF at Conference Youth Events, reviews applications for grant assistance and makes recommendations to the CCYM on how YSF money raised in our conference is to be distributed. Significant for YSF representatives is interpretation of YSF to local churches, districts and youth groups with the Conference Youth Treasurer.
The Resolutions Committee (RezCom) 2nd PRIMARY and 2 ALTERNATES: meets 2-4 times throughout the year with the LAP (Legislative Affairs Person) to take action on resolutions passed at ACS and to draft resolutions for consideration at the next ACS.
The Communications Committee (ComCom) PRIMARY and ALTERNATE: will meet twice a year to plan for and assist the Conference Youth.
