Nothing has Changed or Has it?
Challenges can have positive and negative outcomes. It all depends in how you approach the challenge. When we have built our lives on things that are not dependable, when the storms of life come, we can be in trouble. When our lives are founded upon the Lord Jesus Christ, it is like the man who built his house upon the rock.
New Revised Standard Version
24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them
will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. 25 The rain fell,
the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did
not fall, because it had been founded on rock. 26 And everyone who
hears these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a
foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain fell, and the
floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it
fell – and great was its fall!”
The challenge of the World Trade Towers being attacked brought a change to our society that would not allow us to return to “normal.” When the nation’s fourth largest bank filed for bankruptcy in 2008, our world changed and there was no returning to “normal.” With the COVID Pandemic still enveloping our world, I would think that we have all come to a realization that we will need to do things differently to live into this new world post pandemic.
With each of these events, the World has made changes. The dependability of institutions has been shaking. The threads of our society are coming unraveled. And those in Christ have found that the peace and stability that comes from knowing Christ transcends even the greatest of challenges. When Jesus is your all in all, then challenges are simply an opportunity to share the love of Christ in new ways.
When the world is your guide and challenges come; everything changes. The world struggles to find stability. The world struggles to find meaning when all they understood no longer makes sense like it did before. The world grows weary of the continual shifting. They long to find a strong foundation upon which to stand.
For the world everything has changed. The prospects for the worlds future only indicate more changing and with it more instability. But, the GOOD NEWS is that for those of us in Christ our eternity is set and we can count on Christ. When you have died in Christ, you no longer worry about your future. Christ has all our tomorrows. No matter what comes our way, what challenge life brings, we have a peace that goes beyond understanding, in Christ. Jesus has fixed in us an ability to see the challenges as opportunities to do something new to forward the Kingdom of God. For those of us in Christ, nothing has changed. Christ is our steady rock. The world rages and many are overcome with despair. But we who are in Christ overcome this world with a love that is eternal. Let us be a people that build our lives on the Solid Rock, Jesus the Christ.
Winning them to Jesus,
